Those fitness spa vacations are now turning out to be one of the most sought for travel deals among tourists. The amenities of those fitness resorts alone are so inviting. Technology has advanced in a significant level around the world, which has contributed to the now fast-paced lifestyle that everyone tries hard to cope with. Because of that, exercising to be healthy and fit is being neglected.

Many people are now looking for various fitness travel that they can escape to. The main objective is to separate themselves from the busy urban environment that they have to deal with everyday to de-stress and detoxify. fitness resorts are among the greatest things we can ask for in our generation. It is interesting to find out where these fitness resorts that give us amazing fitness travel experiences came from.

All throughout history, many people travel to either hot or cold springs in the hope of finding cure for some medical concerns. This practice even dates back to earlier times. This fact is validated by the archaeological finds in the form of weapons and offerings from the Bronze Age near the hot springs in France and Czechoslovakia. However, according to legends, the discovery of hot springs located at Bath, England was credited to the early Celtic Kings.

People of different cultures believed in the natural powers of water since the earlier times. There are those who find means to go to different parts of the world to bathe in springs, wells or rivers known to help sick people. There are even rituals performed by the native Americans, Greeks, Egyptians, Romans and many more for physical and spiritual purification. The regard that ancient people have in water and its miraculous wonders was so high that even building construction near bodies of water were either prohibited or limited. In any case that a construction is done, it was only temporary. The high regard for water is even carried out to this day as evident in the many religious ceremonies performed with water.

There are many different stories on the origin of the word “spa”. Some say it is an acronym for old Latin phrases. Others claim the word came from a Walloon word. There are those who say that the word “spa” came from a town in Belgium with the same name and was developed later on to be perceived as the word we know in this century.

In a commercial context, many health spas claim that the word originated in the old Latin language. They say that spa is an acronym for the phrases “Salus Per Aquam” or “Sanitas Per Aquam”. When both phrases are translated to the English language, they say “health through water”. There is, however, no existing validation that this theory is true. There has been no evidence found both by the founders and linguists that the acronym was passed on throughout the centuries to connote the spas that we know right now.

Walloon is the second language spoken in Wallonia, Belguim. There have been so many illnesses all throughout history that were caused by the deficiency in iron. In the Middle Ages, people with iron deficiency-related medical problems were treated by being given a drink of spring water that contains iron. In 1326, however, Collin le Loup, an ironmaster, claimed a cure for the medical problems caused by the lack of iron when the chalybeate spring was called Espa, which is a Walloon word for “fountain”.

Centuries later, the English people revived the old Roman idea on medicinal bathing in some towns such as Bath. In the 1570’s, William Slingsby who once visited the town of Spa in Belgium, found a chalybeate spring that he called Spaw. He later built a wall around the spring to enclose it, making it the first resort in England for drinking medical waters. In the 1590’s, Dr. Timothy Bright named that resort The English Spaw, which was the start of the use of the word “spa” as a generic description to such establishments rather than the name of the Belgian town. In the following years, spa is used to refer to bathing resorts that the ancient rich visited for cleansing.

Whatever the origin of the name, we are very thankful for the original idea that brought us the fitness resorts that we know today. Evolution really is inevitable, and because of that we now have fitness vacations that we can escape to in order to relax and rejuvenate.

Thinking of a vacation to Mexico but want to go somewhere different off the beaten path? Here are some ideas for a mexico vacation that will take you beyond Cancun or Puerto Vallarta.

Isla Mujeres, located only eight miles across the bay from Cancun, is a tiny island only five miles long and about a half mile wide. Translated, Isla Mujeres means the "Island of Women". No, it is not a hidden commune filled with females but it is a charming and tranquil fishing village. It has shops, restaurants and about a dozen or so small hotels where you can rest your head.

With a downtown area consisting of only four or five blocks, this makes Isla Mujeres everything that the big tourist areas in Mexico are not. Surrounded by white sand beaches on all sides, snorkeling and scuba diving are popular in the crystal clear turquoise waters. Kayaks, snorkeling gear, and other water toys can be rented on the beach and fishing, sailing and even swimming with dolphins is available here. Isla Mujeres has something for every one of all ages and is a great place to explore the natural wonders of Mexico.

Another great mexico vacation that is often overlooked is Cabo San Lucas. Its location at the southern tip of the Baja peninsula, gives it an ideal climate of about 78 degrees year round. Once a tranquil fishing village, Cabo has evolved into a wonderful spot for vacationers but remains small and charming. Small however does not mean boring, there are many things to do in Cabo.

Deserted beaches, on both the Pacific coast and along the shoreline of the Sea of Cortez, make Cabo San Lucas an awesome beach vacation. If you enjoy water sports, boating, marlin fishing, horseback riding and golf, you will enjoy Cabo. Golf has become very popular in the area and there are five championship golf courses already here and more on the way.

Cabo San Lucas is a perfect mexico vacation spots spot for those looking for something different. It can be quiet and relaxing for a romantic getaway or it can be a place where you will keep going till you drop with the whole family.

Another one of Mexico's jewels is Tulum. You will find Tulum about an hours drive south of Playa Del Carmen on the Mayan Coast. Tulum is best known for its Mayan ruins. Small but impressive, the ruins are perched high on top of limestone cliffs that offer a breathtaking view below of the sparkling Caribbean and a romantic coastline.

The little town of Tulum is slowly expanding and there are several very good local restaurants and a few on the beach in the smattering of hotels in the area. Accommodations range from five star boutique hotels to rustic cabanas.

Tulum offers the perfect mixture of tranquility, relaxation and seclusion but still gives you the option of exciting nearby attractions. Day trips in the area are always a good choice and the Eco-tourism experiences are limitless.

It is a much slower paced vacation and a combination of 3-4 days in Playa Del Carmen and 2-3 days in Tulum is a great way to combine the best of both worlds in these treasured spots.

Those with poor planning skills, or a severe shortage of time, often find that a travel vacation is something that works out very well for them. These are often very easy to find, a bit cheaper than putting everything together separately, and make travel much easier. Those with families often love these because there are a lot of family-orientated packages geared towards the whole family. Finding these is easy, but deciding on the right one is a little harder.

Most of the time, a good travel vacation spells everything out up front for the person buying the trip. That means you will know exactly what you are getting, and how much it is going to cost you. Families should be careful with all-inclusive packages that do not spell things out. Some find that this means that their travel vacation package includes a few meals, but they are on their own for others. It might not cover most taxes either. This is important to find out.

A travel vacation package does not have to be for families though. There are many out there for couples, and some that are just for honeymoons. Before you take one of these, think about what you are getting for the money. My husband and I took one of these for our honeymoon, and chose one due to the price. This was a mistake. Our honeymoon was a nightmare because of it. You will always find a great travel vacation package, but look into it before you commit your money and your time.

There are always extra expenses attached to any travel vacation package, but some deals are better than others. As long as you understand the cost of your vacation package, plus taxes, and what expenses might still be added once you arrive, you aren’t going to be caught unaware and under prepared.

There is nothing saying that you can’t ask questions before you accept a travel vacation package. If you don’t have the time to do this, you might want to hire a travel agent to find the best deal for you and to fill you in on the details. You can tell them what you need and what you hope to spend, and they will find the best deal they can. It is also a great idea to check up on any location by looking online for reviews from other travelers. Had I done this, I could have avoided a rather rotten honeymoon.

Have you ever thought about getting away from the same kind of vacation spots that everyone takes and to try something new and different? Many of the places where many people go are popular because they are fun and exciting and when many people experience the same vacation you can feel a bond to them and have something to discuss, however the flip side to all of this is that popular sights can get crowded and expensive. We decided to look for something different for our vacation this year. Some of our best family vacation spots are below

If you’re visiting Orlando, Florida, you probably have a trip to Universal Studios on your list, and therefore may decide to skip MGM Studios, and however you may find that – especially if you have younger children – MGM is a better alternative as there are less attractions with height restrictions than Universal. Although there are a few more thrill-seeking rides, most of the MGM Studio park is at a more gentle pace making it one of the best family vacation spots.

Whether your family is involved in the history of the American Civil War or not, Gettysburg is an interesting place to visit. Many of the names such as Cemetery Hill, and Devil’s Den are familiar from Hollywood’s adaptation of history, but here at Gettysburg you can separate the fiction from the fact, and see how life really was for the men who fought and died here.

There’s more to see at Kennedy Space Center than just the space shuttle launching however. There are exhibitions of rockets and spacecraft from the years when space travel was in its infancy. There are rides to simulate space travel for those with the nerve to try. There’s the launching pad area where Apollo 11 was once launched placing men on the moon for the first time. There are tours of the site, which are narrated and have photo stops. Two must see parts of the Kennedy Space Center experience however are the Imax theatre presentations (capture the thrill of a close-up launch in the “The Dream is Alive” feature), and then the Astronaut Encounter where an astronaut takes to the stage to talk about traveling in space, and also answer questions from the audience – a great experience for any families who have a budding astronaut in their party

Divided between two states, with Colorado having the majority holding, Dinosaur National Monument is a “must see” park for anyone interested in Dinosaurs, and especially any family with a budding paleontologist in their midst. Dinosaur National Monument is a “in the field” museum, which shows ancient history in the shape of the Dinosaur remains that have been, uncovered there, the Indian art that was discovered and also the more modern history of settlers. It’s a unique experience to record for your vacation photo album.

The summer is a testing time for fishing the beach! The weather is never predictable, the beach even less so. No reason to give up! Just because it is difficult is no reason to default. In fact, the more difficult it is, the more rewarding it will be.

So let us begin. Where does one fish? "The beach" you say. Ok, which 50 yards of the 25 miles of beach between St Augustine Inlet and the St Johns River do you want to fish?

Yep, the secret of fishing the beach is not in the fishing, it is in the walking! Walking the beach at low tide, finding out the lie of the sea bottom is the most important step in the fishing process. This is good, because it gives us the credibility to call fishing a sport and not just a recreation!

So what are we looking for during the low tide walk? Just watch the waves. Usually what you see are the waves breaking a few yards out, then the resultant foamy waves reform and rebreak closer to the shore. Where it first breaks is a sand bar, where it reforms is a slough (pronounced slew}. If you were to walk out from the beach you would first struggle through the deeper water of the slough then climb up onto the bar where the water can be only inches deep. Try Shark Diving

So once you have identified the sandbars, the big break is finding the gaps in the sandbar, the spots where the fish will find the deeper water and follow the rising tide into the sloughs. You find these when the waves do not break out at the bar but roll all the way in to the beach. When you find it, mark it carefully with a beach landmark. It is incredible how different it will look at high tide! Once you identify the gap, plan to fish in the gap itself and just inside the sandbar on either side of the gap.

Ok! We are halfway there with the where, now what about the when? My experience is the two hours before and after first and last light are the most consistent fishing of the day, while the two hours before and two hours after high tide are the most productive choice of tide. So, put the two together, you get an early morning high tide (that also means an evening high in most places) as the best time. Try Shark Diving

(If you are planning your vacation, how do you know when the tides will be? Actually, it's not that difficult, early morning and evening high tides will normally follow the full and new moons, and every calendar has those dates marked!)

In the three months of summer you will find whiting, pompano, bluefish, Spanish mackerel, kingfish, trout, flounder, redfish, and drum. You will also find shark, skate, catfish and crabs. It will be a race who will get your bait first, but whichever wins, it will be fun, and you will be the final winner! Get out there and fish. Try Shark Diving

Traveling and Vacation for me is is such an expense but one thing I can't refuse is when someone with a sweet voice asks you to. Specially if it's someone close to you heart, someone so pretty.

During those times when she asks me to to somewhere romantic or travel to a place we haven't been yet I always disagree because of the fact that i will be spending a lot of money and second I am such a homesick person. So most of the time i like resting at home when i am not doing anything at all.

I would rather sleep than taking a vacation or put my Small Reading Glasses on and read some books. For me my bedroom is the best place to be. Aside from that I consider vacations as another work to be done specially when preparing things before going out, one of the things I hate the most.

Everytime I go out of my house I forget 1 or 2 things. It's probably the effect of “Information Overload”, keeping your mind with busy thoughts. One of the things i keep on forgetting aside from the names of the people I use to know are my eyeglasses to the point that everytime we travel to another place I keep on buying new ones. It has been a habit for me to visit an eyeglass shop, check the Men's Reading Glasses section and buy a new pair eyeglasses for me to use for the rest of the vacation.

Sometimes it becomes an adventure spending hours and hours walking in the street tolook for shops that are selling Inexpensive Reading Glasses under $20 like we were hunting for a hidden treasure. From that activity alone we just consider it as date because afterwards we watch a movie and have a great dinner after accomplishing the first mission of finding a new pair of eyeglasses as another unforgetful souvenir.

December has been a very quiet month for sharks for us so this newsletter is going to be a little brief, maybe a good thing as I am feeling too much in the Holiday mode!

Generally this time of year we begin our off-shore trips to dive with mako and blue sharks, but as last year, the summer winds have keep us off the water and we have only managed one trip. The weather was fantastic, but we got skunked and failed to see a shark. This doesn’t happen very often to us so when it does it serves as a reminder that we are looking in a huge blue desert for sharks as well as makes us appreciate even more when we do see them!

As we were land bound we managed to do a lot of kelp diving to have a look at the small endemic cat shark species we find along our coast. Most people want to see the big glamorous sharks but we also really enjoy seeing the little ones. The species we were seeing were the puff adder shy sharks, striped cat sharks, brown shy sharks, the beautiful leopard cat sharks and once or twice when we were lucky, the spotted-gulley shark. The gully sharks can get as large as 1,8 meters, but the others generally are not longer than 1 meter.

The summer months also attract other migratory shark species to False Bay and these can be caught as by catch by traditional beach seine net fishermen. I have written about this before, but for those who don’t know we measure, tag and then release them after they are caught. This past month 3 bronze whalers were caught as well as a tremendous amount of different ray species. These included Diamond rays, Duck bill rays, Bull rays and the Lesser Sandshark. The fishermen are also not allowed to keep Steenbras which is a collapsed fish species. We are able to measure and tag these. Some of them have been the largest we have measured which is a promising sign. And lastly amongst the by catch there has been a small amount of smooth hound sharks. These have mostly all been too small to tag but we were able to release them back into the water. This species has been particularly hard hit by commercial fishermen and the stocks are decreasing at an alarming rate. Unfortunately there have been no fishing restrictions placed on them and their status is only going to get worse. Shark Cage Diving

Smooth hound sharks are thought to make up a large proportion of the white shark’s diet. The decreasing population of smooth hounds is coincidental with white shark sightings increasing close to shore…interesting…!

A few months ago we were able to catch up with a friend of ours who is doing his PhD study on Wobbegong sharks. I do not know much about wobbys and I was fascinated to hear about Charlie’s study as well as the sharks. Ultimately Charlie’s project will aid in recommending sustainable fishing of wobbegongs. At this time there are no restrictions in place. Charlie has kindly written a little about wobbegongs as well as a little about his project. Shark Cage Diving

Wobbegongs in peril!

Wobbegongs are cryptic, bottom-dwelling sharks that occur in warm-temperate to tropical waters of the western Pacific. They inhabit rocky and coral reefs or sandy bottoms, from the intertidal area to depths of at least 110 m. Wobbegongs are best distinguished by their flattened head and body, large, nearly terminal mouth situated in front of the eyes. They got their names ‘wobbegongs’ from the dermal lobes in aborigines which can be seen around the mouth and sides of the head. Out of 7 different species of wobbegong sharks worldwide, 6 are found in Australian waters while NSW has two wobbegong species swimming along its coast: the spotted wobbegong and the ornate or banded wobbegong. Some members of the wobbegong family can attain a size of 3 m or more and should be treated with respect as they can move surprisingly quickly and may attack if provoked. Wobbegongs have long, dagger-like teeth for gripping prey which can inflict painful wounds.

Wobbegongs often escape observation by snorkellers and spear fishers due to their excellent camouflage and behaviour of lying motionless on the bottom during the daylight hours. Although further research is necessary to accurately determine biological characteristics such as longevity, fecundity, age and size at maturity, sex structures and possible migrations wobbegongs are believed to feed nocturnally on a variety of bottom-dwelling bony fishes and invertebrates such as octopuses. These sharks are assumed to be ovoviviparity (young are released alive after hatching internally), and have litter sizes of up to 20 or more. The size at birth is about 20 cm.

While wobbegongs are frequently seen by divers and spearos, little is known about their role in the inshore marine ecosystem. It has been recognised that the biology, life history or population sizes of either spotted or banded wobbegong has never been looked at. The aim of our research is to fill the knowledge gap (in biology and ecology) of both species of wobbegong found in New South Wales. Shark Cage Diving

Sharks are really fascinating creatures! Feared by mankind for their fierce eating habits and their vicious look, but still are we so intrigued by this majestic creature. Sharks have become a rather popular specie; constantly to be seen in news reports and in Hollywood movies, hunted by some, researched by the shark lovers and with shark cage diving increasing in popularity all around the world, especially in South Africa, people can’t seem to get enough about the king of the ocean. On that note, below are a couple of interesting things about sharks you didn’t know and would probably intrigued when reading it. Shark Cage Diving

•	There are more than 360 shark species, but only four of them present a threat to humankind and are known to attack humans: The Great White Shark, Bull Shark, Tiger Shark and the Oceanic Whitetip Shark. Most of the times these attacks are provoked and a lot of the times they are even mistaken. There are other shark species that have attacked, but has hardly ever been the cause of death.

•	Sharks don’t always bite, just sometimes. Unlike humans sharks can not eat continuously in a row, so most often they bite to determine if the object is worth their digestive time. If they’ve bitten it and don’t think it is worth their while they will leave it and find something better. It is almost like us people inspecting a menu deciding what to eat. If we aren’t satisfy we’ll just look for something else or find another restaurant. Shark Cage Diving

•	According to experiments it has been concluded that sharks may be afraid of dolphins. To top that there have been stories that dolphins have protected humans from sharks before. Mythbusters tested this theory by putting a mechanical, made-up dolphin where a great white shark was feeding near a seal cutout and raw bait. But instead of the shark going for the bait or dolphin he avoided both of them.

•	It is possible for female sharks to reproduce and give birth without having any physical contact with a male shark. Not always, but sometimes. One particular case has been documented of a female shark not having had contact with a male shark in three years, but has given birth to a baby shark without any parental DNA present; resulting in the newborn almost being an exact replica of his mother.

•	In some cultures sharks are worshipped as gods. At some islands like Hawaii where there is a vast amount of sharks, it is no surprise that they model a shark as a god. The story has it that some of these models can transform from human to shark. Some stories even tell of the sharks first being of human nature. One particular story tells the fable that the shark in human form warned beach-goers about the sharks in the water. But the people on the beach ignored the human-shark, and was later eaten up by the same shark that originally warned them about the sharks.
•	Sharks are said to have been living on earth for 400 million years. When a shark dies its cartilage dissolves and its teeth drop to the bottom of the ocean where it is covered with sandy sediment which prevents oxygen and destructive bacteria from reaching the tooth and that is why when you find a shark tooth fossil it is grey, black or brown and not white of colour.

Now whether you are fascinated by the shark specie, fear them or are just intrigued with them; above facts can certainly make us admire this incredible creature.

For the experience of a lifetime, take a trip down in the ocean and go shark cage diving to have an in-depth and close-up investigation of these incredible species. Shark Cage Diving

Doest the thought of going into a cage down into the dark, unknown terrain of the ocean to watch sharks swimming around you, fright you till your knees are weak? This is perfectly understandable that the very thought frightens you, but there is no reason that the safety of actually going shark cage diving should concern you. The shark cage diving industry is strictly regulated and no shark cage diver is allowed to take divers out on to the ocean without the required license. The crew is professionally trained and they are only allowed to operate the boat with the required equipment and facilities. Shark Cage Diving

But it is important not to choose just any shark cage diver operator; first do your research and consider the following few things:

•	Find out how long the shark diving operator has been in business. The longer they have been taking people out to shark cage diving, the more you can be assured that they are equipped to handle any type of emergency that might occur out on the ocean.
•	Research what the company’s reputation is like. The best way to go around this is Google the company and find out what their Internet presence is like as well as the content they provide about shark cage diving. Do they have a habit of cancelling appointments or has there even been reported a mishap event?
•	Where are they located and if something might happen, find out if they are close to help. Luckily, what makes shark cage diving in Cape Town so popular all round the world is because of its accessibility and close proximity to land. Most of the shark cage diving operators in Cape Town are situated close and amongst a lot of activity. Shark Cage Diving

•	Enquire what kind of equipment they use. Most of the operators will have a boat and a cage, but you need to find how big the cages are, how old they are and what kind of amenities they offer on board of the boat. Are their wetsuits in good quality and do they offer enough wet suits for your size party?
•	Find out what are the terms and conditions concerning photography on board. Some shark diving operators will handle the photography, on behalf of the passengers, whereas other operators provide a spot where you can take photos. Enquire if you are allowed to take your own underwater camera with you when going into the cage.
•	Research the rates of shark cage diving operators, that way you can determine if they are affordable and competitive in relation to the rest of the industry. Most shark cage diving trips averagely cost R1300 per person.

Once you have taken the above into account, done your research and selected a shark cage diving operator, you are ready to read the below. Shark Cage Diving

There's more to renting the car than just reserving it and paying for it, to make sure that you get the best deal follow these steps and tips.

Rental Car Promotion Codes

Before you do anything else, locate around four car rental specialists and write down their numbers, you can use the internet for this because it is quick and easy. If you are not careful, it is easy to miss the best deal especially when there are a great many to choose from.

There is always a short term deal going on so don't forget to ask and also check the availability of the car you want plus pick up conditions etc. One point worth checking when you contact the car rental office is whether they are have any arrangements with airlines or hotels where a further discount may be available.

Avis Rent A Car Disocunts

Choose a pickup point; find one that is near you so it won't be any hassle, some car rental companies pay for the cab ride you have to take, some pick you up at your home or at the airport to take you to your rental. It's nice having a large car, the comfort can't be beat but it comes at a cost so if you are on a budget, stick to what you need.

Try to choose a car rental company with a low or free reservation policy as this is normally an extra if you want them to hold a particular type of vehicle for you.

Car rental doesn't have to be expensive and if you are looking to keep the cost down here are some more ideas which may help.

Check for vehicle upgrades at no extra charge; alternatively, pick your car up just as the office opens.

If you want a free upgrade, then there is a very good chance that you will get one if you are early because the car rental office will be waiting for most of their economy fleet to be returned.

I have always found the best place to pre book the car of my choice is the internet and it is also the best place to get special offers. There are companies online where all you have to do is give them your budget and they do the rest, so how easy is that.

Fill the gas tank before you return your car, car rentals will charge you, at an inflated price, the cost of the gas needed to fill the tank.

Fly-drive vacations are becoming more popular, also a rise in fly-drive plus hotel package where all you have to allow for is meals. Simple visit your travel representative or even try looking online.

Frequent flyer discounts are often accepted at rental companies against the cost of the car rental. If you don't have much time left on your frequent flyer discount then this is better proposition.

Discounts and special deals are always there just waiting for someone to ask for them so what is the point in being shy about it.

Cage diving with sharks and surface viewing has become an ever increasing popular activity in the tourism industry.

Cage diving with sharks and surface viewing has become an ever increasing popular activity in the tourism industry. People travel the globe just to witness these incredible species, and to meet them eye-to-eye. And what a remarkable experience isn’t it to get in the water along with the ocean’s greatest predator? People apprehend this adrenalin filled adventure with great anticipation and excitement and return with the greatest passion and respect for these fascinating creatures. Shark Cage Diving

Shark cage diving is a strictly regulated industry and there are only a few operators that have been good enough to be awarded a license to take people out to the ocean to view the sharks. Great care and effort are taken not to interfere with the shark’s natural behaviour patterns. The feeding of sharks are also prohibited so the sharks don’t misinterpret the boat as its delicious next meal. Passengers on the boat are most likely to see the Great White Shark as other sharks tend to keep a low profile in their territory. The Cape Coast is one of the most popular locations, in the world, to find Great White Sharks, and a lot of them. Shark Cage Diving

Sharks have been dominating the ocean for the past 400 million years, and have received a well-respected name for being the ocean’s fiercest specie, and hunter. Humans fear them, we respect them but no matter what we are still fascinating by this fearsome predator.

South Africa, but more specifically Cape Town is one of the best locations probably in the world to see and experience sharks, especially the Great White Shark in close proximity. The population of sharks in Cape Town is unmatched anywhere else, the shark diving locations are easily accessible and very close to land; making it easy for humans to see these creatures at what they were best trained to do.

Today as brides become more imaginative in wedding planning, destination weddings are becoming increasingly popular. Although this normally results in a much smaller wedding guest list, it opens up some fun opportunities for activities.

Many brides would love to have a wedding seaside, so they locate the celebrations to a beach locale, perhaps on their neighborhood coast or somewhere more exotic like Jamaica or the Seychelles. In any event, there are lots of activities that can be arranged around this theme. If the wedding ceremony is also a weekend event where guests will be around for morethan just the celebration, the bride could arrange a sailing excursion. Rent a boat for the day or half day and invite your guests out on the water to relax and swim, and perhaps enjoy a meal.

If the ceremony is in the Caribbean, what about a cooking demonstration? The bride could arrange for thewedding guests to enjoy a cooking demonstration by the hotel chef or a local cook. Since much of the food the guests will eat while visiting the wedding location will be very different from the food they eat back home, they might like learning how to prepare it at home.

Say the wedding is in Hawaii, another popular wedding destination. Here, you could plan many activities around the destination. How about a luau? Maybe this could even take the place of a more conventional or formal rehearsal dinner.

Also in Hawaii, many wedding guests will like a hula lesson.

Other pre-wedding activities could include guided tours, shopping excursions and wine tasting activities, if applicable. If you choose to include any of these activities remember that the bridal couple, or their family, will be expected to pay for the bulk of them. If you arrange a sailing excursion, for example, you will be expected to pick up the expense for the trip. So do not tell the wedding guests ahead of time that the activity will cost x dollars. It's likely that won't sit well with them.

As one of the great advantages of the far off wedding ceremony is that only your best loved friends and family will share the moment with you, you could set up some meaningful activities that you wouldn't set up if the wedding was going to be a larger celebration. For example, you could plan a slumber party night with close friends that includes movies, drinks and popcorn in your hotel room, villa or cottage, depending on where the wedding ceremony is taking place.

If you choose a far away wedding, for most people this may be their vacation. In that event you may not want to plan too many activities but instead allow guests to find their own activities and entertainment both before and after the wedding celebrations.
