Iceland

Iceland is a Nordic island country in the North Atlantics. The mainland of Iceland is just a few degrees south of the Arctic Circle. I visited Iceland in February 2019, the temperature was all above zero degree with beautiful sunshine during my visit. This beautiful country really surprised me that it was much warmer than Canada. The Iceland Tourism Office's advertisement is "Do you know Iceland's Winter is warmer than New York City?" I love the beautiful magnificent land, waterfalls and beautiful mountain and coastal line. Come to explore Iceland next time!

Must Do

1. See the Northern Lights (The Northern Lights Season from late August to mid-April) in Iceland.

2. Join the Bus Tour Operator - Gray Line (lowest price in Iceland) for a day tour to  explore beautiful Iceland.

3. Buy airport shuttle ticket from Gray Line (lowest price in Iceland).

4. Drive within the speed limit (runs from 30 to 90 km/hour) in Iceland.

5. To save money, do your shopping at the Bonus, Kronan or Netto chain stores.

6. Exchange your leftover Kronas before you leave Iceland. The Icelandic Krona is a tiny currency which is almost never accepted by banks outside of Iceland.

Avoid

1. Avoid buying bottled water in stores. The tap water in Iceland is among the purest in the world.

2. Avoid buying food at Reykjavik airport where is extremely expensive.

3. Don't worry about tipping your server. In Iceland, tipping the person who brings you food and drink is not required or even encouraged. The price of meals and services accounts for the staff's wages, so they have no expectation at all that you will leave them a tip.

4. Don't drive off-road. Off-road driving is taken very seriously in Iceland, and if you are caught you could be fined up to $2,000 in addition to being required to fix the damage you caused.
