I am a big fan of Mayan temples, pyramids and civilizations. I visited Mexico in 2015 and 2018 to explore many Mayan ruins across Mexico and they were amazing trips for me. Besides mysterious Maya civilization, Mexico has beautiful coastal lines and beaches. It is one of greatest destinations combing world heritage cultures and beauty nature for tourists.

1. Use Uber services in Mexico major cities (e.g., Mexico City) and it's cheap and convenient for tourists.
2. Besides Uber service in Mexico city, you may take advantage of subway. It's cheap and convenient.
3. Get Mexican Peso in Mexico for better exchange rate rather than your home country. Especially at the Mexico City International Airport, the exchange rate is very attractive.

4. I recommend tourists to visit all-inclusive resorts in Cancun or Riviera Maya Mexico. Also, take a day trip to Mayan Ruins: Coba, Tulum, Elk Balam and Chichen Itza.

5. If you plan a trip to see Palenque Mayan Ruins, book Interjet from Mexico City ($57-$73 USD for one-way 1.5 hour flight).

6. Take advantage of budget airline in Mexico similar to the ones in Europe (e.g., VivaAerobus: from Mexico City to Merida is only $43 USD on-way for 2 hours flight).

7. Chinese buffets (all you can eat) have very low price in Mexico City. Good delicious food and you should be miss that.

8. ADO has great comfortable coach buses for long distance travel. Most bus terminals are located in the city centres.

9. Take advantage of tourism offices in many Mexico cities. The staff speak very good English and very friendly.

10. Besides Uber service in Mexico city, you may take advantage of subway. It's cheap and convenient.

11. At Duty Free Shops at Mexico airports, paying in USD is cheaper than Mexico pesos.

12. Receive Hep and B Vaccinations before you travel to Mexico

13. Visit Palenque and Uxmal: two UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

We flew to Palenque from Mexico City by Interjet (very relax 1.5 hour flight). It is quite complicated by bus, so I recommend tourists to travel by flight if you can. You may see the morning fog (not smoke)in the photo.

Palenque (UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987). There are many Mayan sitesin Mexico, but not every site is UNESCO World Heritage site. One important unique feature about Palenque is the famous tomb of Pakal in the Mayan Pyramid.

We took the minibus (Colecivo) from Campeche to Edzna Ruins (52.4 km) close to 1 hour trip. We paid 45 pesos per person. You may walk to Chihuahua near Campeche's Market. Ask local people or hotel staff about directions. It is not difficult to find it.

Uxmal (UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996) is very impressive. We took ADO bus from Campeche to Merida. From Merida, we took a regional bus to Uxmal and we saw many tourists on the bus. Tip: there is an Tourism information desk at the ADO TAME terminal in Merida. The staff will provide you the info on bus schedule and price.
